Choosing the Right Tablecloth Size

For formal dining, the standard size tablecloth needs to have a 10 to 12” drop on each side. Although guests may not notice a difference of one or two inches, this is the conventional size suitable for any formal dinner party. Anything less than 9” is appropriate for practical everyday use. To find the right tablecloth size for your needs, measure the length and width of your table surface. For round tables, you will need to measure the diameter. Don’t forget to include any leaves and extensions you will be adding to accommodate all your guests. Once you have the final numbers, add twice the chosen drop to the length and to the width.
